Kate Widdows is a graphic designer and neon sign maker. Kate began creating digital neon in animated GIF form, which is an image that's been encoded using the graphics interchange format where it has multiple frames encoded into a single image file and a web browser will play those images back in animated sequence.
Sharon made a decision with her now husband Greg in 1986 to build Ion Art, a design and fabrication workshop dedicated to building all things neon - and so much more. She wanted to create a way forward for other artists to work collaboratively and to be able to focus on glass and metal work in order to provide clients with custom lighting, interior furnishings and art installations, in addition to creative signage.
Ells is responsible for something truly unique that we all love on the show - creating neon. However, his unique process harnesses the power of digital technology. Max talks with the prolific motion graphics designer, photographer, and creator about all that goes into making these computer generated representations.
