Event Planner’s Guide to LED Neon Signs

We love to work with event planners - and event planners love to work with us! Here are the top questions we have heard over the years that can help you plan to use your LED neon sign successfully at your next event. Do you have a question that we haven’t covered here? Let us know - we’d be happy to work with you directly to ensure you have the answers about designing, ordering and placing your lighted sign to make your next event extraordinary.

How far ahead should I order?

It will take 2-3 weeks for us to make and deliver your LED neon sign to you. However, you likely need a day or two to think through how your sign will be hung at the event. So we advise giving yourself that extra needed time when you can.

How do I match sign colors to the event color scheme?

We have our color options listed - check them out and then compare them to your color palette. Please keep in mind that whether your LED neon sign is being displayed in the daytime or night - inside or outside - will have some affect on the precise color. The bottom line is that your sign will still excite your guests and draw attention to your message, regardless if the Pantone swatch is an exact match.

Where’s the best place to hang the sign at my event?

We highly recommend hanging your LED neon sign indoors in a place where your guests are sure to see it. Our signs are not waterproof, so please take that into account when planning the sign location. The power cord for your sign will be 6 feet long, so ensure there is a power source that will accommodate. We can include a 10 foot power cord for an additional fee, should you need it. You can use an extension cord to get a longer reach, if needed. Just use common sense where safety is concerned in terms of trip hazards and ensure the extnesion cord is rated for this purpose if you decide to use an extension cord.

What’s the best way to transport the sign to/from the venue?

We recommend you keep the sign in the box it arrived in when you are moving the sign from one location to another. Keep the sign off the ground to avoid people stepping on it or tripping over it. LED signs are much more durable than neon glass signs, but both can be damaged with rough handling.

Any tips for photographing an LED neon sign?

Most event planners want to highlight their handiwork on Instagram, TikTok or other social media platforms with pictures and video. Including your neon sign in your social posts is a great way to extend the value of your sign investment beyond your event and continue to promote the logo or message. Thinking of using your sign in your step and repeat? Let your photographer know so they can make adjustments. Time of day, camera stabilization and light balance will be key photographing the sign. Here are some tips:

  1. Don’t use a flash

  2. Open your camera’s aperture and keep the number as low as you can

  3. Photograph the sign from close up

  4. Ensure your shutter speed is above 1/1000 of a second

  5. Take some test photos in the exact light your event’s room will be in case you need to trouble-shoot with your photographer before the big event

What should I do with the sign after the event?

So many options! Here are some of our faves:

●     Include it in the cost of the event so that your client has the sign to hang in their home or office for years to come

●     Use it for you next event

●     Resell it to someone else who can use it locally

●     Donate it to a worthy cause to use in an upcoming raffle or auction, or to hang in their offices

●     Give it as a gift to a client or friend
